What is the Best Skid Steer Track Pattern for Mud?

Zig Zag Tread Pattern

When it comes to using your skid steer or compact track loader in muddy terrain, having the correct rubber track tread pattern will make a significant impact on the safety and performance of your machine. While there are several tread patterns that will work in the mud, we recommend going with a Zig Zag pattern.  A Zig Zag tread pattern will provide you with a low ground pressure design while still being able to maintain traction throughout the job.  Muddy terrain isn’t the only place where a Zig Zag pattern excels.  It also excels in hard and loose surfaces.  It can provide a smooth ride on paved surfaces and increased traction capabilities on loose terrain.

While a zig zag tread pattern will also work great in the snow, it is not the one we recommend.  Check out our guide on what tread pattern works best in the snow.
